Today is the Day Of Atonement. It is the Most Holy Day for our - TopicsExpress

Today is the Day Of Atonement. It is the Most Holy Day for our Jewish friends and thus should also be important for us. The one day a year that their sins were Atoned for and a day of fasting and seeking Gods plan and purpose for their lives for the next year. I just did an awesome study on it and I found that the early Church kept this day(Acts27:9) even though the animal sacrfices were no longer needed(Thank You Jesus). On this day the Jewish peopl eat nothing from yesterday evening untill this evening(a jewish day) and they also do no work, they have other Holy days and sabbath days but on this day they neglect even the work of servitude. I thought the following scripture caught the spirit of what this day should be for us as Christians... (Mark14:7)"The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me." We have every day to do things, even the good things of helping others, but for this one day we neglect all, humble ourselves in fasting and prayer, and simply seek our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ and His direction for the next year. Hope everyone has a blessed day!!
