Today is the Diada, Independance Day, in Catalonia / Catalunya. It has now been exactly 300 years since this small Mediterrenean region was annexed to Spain. The Catalans, who have their own culture and language, have been asking for many years for their own country. They have been going about this process in a democratic and pacific way, without using terrorist groups or a militia. Millions of Catalans have come down to Barcelona today and are at this very moment (16.30 Madrid time) making a giant human V (for Victory) on the biggest roads in the city.
