Today is the HAPPIEST day!!!!! 5 years ago today I became a mom for the first time, when I held my screaming little monkey for the first time in my arms. I will never forget the day Christian came to live with us. He was already here when I got home from an apt, and I could hear him screaming all the way outside in the driveway when I got out out of my car. I remember walking into the house and seeing Eric and another little foster kiddo we had at the time, sitting on the couch. Eric looked exasperated, and the the little girl gave me a big smile, put both hands out, palms up and shrugged her shoulders. It was the funniest thing ever! Christian was screaming his banshie head off, and Eric said, He just wont stop! I scooped up the very loud, very dirty little monkey, out of the jump a roo, and held him close. He wrapped his long arms and around my neck....frantically clinging to me. Finally, he looked at me, took several deep breaths, and laid his head on my shoulder. He stopped crying and let out a very deep sigh. In THAT MOMENT I became a mom. It would be over a year and a half before we knew for sure that we would be able to adopt Christian....but I knew in that moment....No matter *what* happened, I was a mom, and that I was forever changed. I love my little monkey with all my heart and soul and I am so so blessed that God gave Christian to us.
