Today is the birthday of the late Mac Dre. Now for many of my brothers in Chicago and on the East Coast you may not be too familiar with this brother. You may have heard Drake and a few other rappers give him shout outs in the recent years on songs but I assure you that when it comes to the west coast Mac Dre is west coast hip hop royalty. It honestly does not get any bigger on the west coast than the influence this young man had on his generation and musical culture. He embodied everything the independent underground hip hop scene represented and his image is iconic over here. Seriously he is to the Bay Area what Pimp C is to Texas. The admiration his fans and followers have for him is surreal. I have studied many many hours of footage of this man from interviews to performances in an attempt to see what I can steal and use for my own personal popularity purposes in building a following and what stands out most about him to me and what makes him so unique and special is he had no gimmicks. He was indeed what everyone claims to be. Real. Thats it. No special effects no extra drama no make believe story or fantasy character. No elaborate costumes no super duper gangster talk. Just a young Mac named Dre having a good time. And people love it. Phenomenal character with an amazing dynamic chemistry with the people to say the least. Im in awe of the mans accomplishments. But as it goes anytime any one is loved so much hate is bound to come with it and his life was taken away from him by another black man.
