Today is the day that I will start to do my best to inform you about the illness that are plaguing us now. I work with a researcher to provide up to date information that is on-going in an effort to let you know what the virus is, how it is spread and what you can do to protect yourself and your family. These reports will sometimes be graphic but I believe the public should know and have the truth. Some will have several reports . Our first report is on Ebola and as an example it has 4 articles . I will post every two - three days as new information is available . This first report is written by Nikola. He is more than qualified to do research of this kind . I will tell you more about him in a later post. I encourage you to check this information yourself. We are not diagnosing illness or trying to give you guidance of any kind. All information is accurate as much as possible leaving room for human error. You must be aware in all of these symptoms etc. that are mentioned that we have only 1 case in the U.S. today. Here is your first chapter of the report you have been waiting for. EBOLA -ARTICLE 1 Ebola is one of the most fear- inspiring diseases plaguing mankind nowadays, not so much because of its high incidence as much as its gruesome symptoms and high mortality rate. Ebola is a transmittable disease and can strike anywhere where the conditions for its transmission to humans are met. Sadly, the public is very poorly informed about the disease and the virus causing it, leading to mass panics, conspiracy theories and riots, which only contribute to the spread of the disease. Ebola is a disease of humans and other primates exclusively caused by the Ebola virus. Symptoms start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus, with a fever, sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches. Typically, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys. The last stage consists of affected people beginning to bleed both within the body and externally, leading up to a systemic failure and death (WHO 2014). Signs and symptoms of Ebola usually begin suddenly with an influenza-like stage characterized by fatigue, fever, headaches, joint, muscle, and abdominal pain. Vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite are also common. Less common symptoms include the following: sore throat, chest pain, hiccups, shortness of breath, and trouble swallowing. The average time between contracting the infection and the start of symptoms is 8 to 10 days, but it can vary between 2 and 21 days. Some of the visible symptoms include a rash on the skin and blister-like boils (CDC 1024). In about 50% of the cases bleeding from mucus membranes like the gums, nose, eyes and genital areas is reported. Bleeding usually starts within 5-7 days after infection. YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE (1) CASE OF EBOLA IN THE U.S. AT THIS POINT. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE FEARFUL AS ALL EFFORTS ARE BEING MADE TO PROVIDE A VACCINE FOR THIS VIRUS. Check back for chapter 2 in 2 days.
