Today is the day to review what happened twenty-five years ago - Berlin Wall was collapsed. It marks a major milestone of triumph of human rights and democracy since the late forties after the World War II. To me five months earlier in 1989 in the spring in Beijing, student movement asking for political reform has paved way for the crumbling of the Communist regimes in East Europe and Russia. Sadly to say East Germans, people in East Europe and Russia have enjoyed better human rights. And some enjoy democracies. People in China are still left behind iron curtain. Although Chinese life have improved significantly material-wise, but their thoughts and words are limited by the government. The Beijing administration has left its Constitution as a piece of decoration and has not intention to adhere to it. history/topics/cold-war/berlin-wall
