Today is the day when Newton Abbot will get illuminated by the Christmas lights. Although the switch on itself isnt until much later there is plenty going on all day. There will be music, shopper karaoke, free face painting and balloon modelling for children during the day and the Father Christmas Parade down Queen Street from 4.45pm. During the parade sweets and glow sticks are being given away and the switch on at the Clock Tower will be at 5.30pm. Once the lights are on – there will also be a professional firework display from Wolborough Hill for everyone to enjoy. We have a great view advantage here at Olive, as we are on a first floor, and as luck would have it the main stage is right outside our window, so why not pop in for a cuppa or light bite and watch the festivities by an open fire. We are open from 11am today, closing at 3pm and re-opening at 6pm, so cmon in and enjoy the view.
