Today is the final installment of HISTORY AT HIGH NOON, and Information Services Librarian Christopher Elliott has prepared an interesting presentation on the 1935 Pittsburg County Courthouse Siege. If youve read Rilla Askews Depression-era novel HARPSONG, you have a good idea of what happened. Today, get more of the straight dirt on the Dust Bowl uprising that happened right in our own back yard. Join us at noon for beef stew, cheese and crackers and upside-down cake as we enjoy a tasty lunch and learn local history. Its all part of SOUTHEAST READS, a literary program by the libraries of the Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma, focusing this year on the Depression novel OUT OF THE DUST by Karen Hesse.
