Today is the first day of my last semester at Saddleback College. Therefore I feel it is only appropriate to start off the school year with some encouragement. Victor Frankl, a survivor of the holocaust, in his book Man’s Search for Meaning observes that those who survived longest in concentration camps where not those who were physically strong, but those who had a sense of control over ones own environment; “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing - the last of human freedoms; to choose one’s own attitude in any given set of circumstances.” This struck me for various reasons and made me think of an inspirational video by Mateusz M who says, “Anybody can feel good when they have their health, they bills are paid, they have happy relationships. Anybody can be positive then…Anybody can have a lot of faith under those kind of circumstances. The real challenge of growth, mentally, emotionally and spiritually comes when you get knocked down.” So continue to be positive despite the circumstances, in the words of Louis Zamperini “To persevere I think its important for everybody, Don’t give up, Don’t give in, There’s always an answer to everything.” Check out the video and be encouraged!!!
