Today is the great Internet slowdown. Sites all across the web, including Etsy, Kickstarter, Meetup, Etsy, and the Mayan Calendar Portal!, have uploaded a symbolic wheel of death icon to protest an initiative thats being put forth by large ISPs to create a paid Internet fast lane for those who can afford it. We need to keep the Internet free and open to all. This is called the Net Neutrality initiative. Check out the icon on our front page: maya-portal.net ...and go to https://battleforthenet/ to contact your representatives or submit your comments to the FCC so they hear loud and clear that the Internet is a public good and a public service, not a product whose prices can be raised beyond the means of the public.
