Today is the last day of our Reconstruction of the Steeple - TopicsExpress

Today is the last day of our Reconstruction of the Steeple campaign, a 40 day campaign that Indiegogo invited us to extend by 20 days. In a campaign like this, 60 days can seem like a very long time, while simultaneously seeming like not even remotely enough time to accomplish everything we had hoped. There has been a very public outlaying of support both emotionally and financially. We have gotten our name and information about our mission spread out far more widely, even within our own community, than it ever has been. We have made new friends and created new bonds for present and future support of our endeavors. We have strengthened bonds with friends who have already been there in support of us throughout our history. We have celebrated goals met along the way, had spontaneous office dance parties in support of a specific dollar totals reached, and dug deep trying to understand why such a great campaign, supported and built by such an amazingly talented group of present and former Athenians has failed to reach even further than it has. But at the end of the day--or, more appropriately in this case, the beginning of the new year--we are closing out this campaign feeling a great deal of love and support given back to us in return for the work we do. Have we met our goal? No, and short of a Nuçis Space guardian angel emerging from the wings in the 11th hour, we wont. But we have raised a significant amount of money, and we will create an inspirational space behind our building, centered on the steeple. Even more importantly to those in need of our services, we have also raised some funding toward this years programs. While it isnt enough to let us to a break from our never-ending quest for funding, it gives us a little breathing space as we continue to determine where that additional backing will come from. At 2:59 am tonight, this campaign is over. We have raised just over $141,000. As one last final push, we have a goal of seeing that number hit $150,000. If you have been distracted by the holidays and not contributed yet, now is your chance. If you were broke, but got financially rewarded by your family during the holidays, you have a few more hours in which to participate. Lets go out on a strong note, making one final push to see what we can do. You are tired from the holiday bustle, and we are, too. Add to that the energy we have expended creating, promoting, and communicating about this campaign, and well all be glad to shift focus for a little while. But for these next 16-1/2 hours, it is go, go, go full speed to the finish line. Its time to hit it full throttle. Then we can all take a minute to breathe deep, look at what weve accomplished, appreciate where we are, what we do, and who we get to interact with as a result of that. We can take a second to feel the love and warmth that has been created by our efforts over the years, in the many relationships we have built. And then, of course, well go back to work, because, unfortunately, people always need help, and our job is never done. Thanks and much love to all of you. igg.me/at/reconstructionofthesteeple
