Today is the last day of the NACO (National Association of Counties Conference). Today is the day that all resolutions, platform changes, and leadership are voted on. The Public Lands Steering Committee that I sit on managed to get 39 Resolutions and 1 Platform Change calling for the transfer of public lands through the Committee and Executive Board, now we need to get them through the membership vote which we dont anticipate any problems with. This is quite a task if you think about getting over 3000 counties, parishes, etc. to all agree upon something that NACO will stand for and lobby for in the next year. I have met lots of great people here, made some contacts that will help with the efforts we are making with regards to public lands transfer and Ive learned a ton! Big accomplishment on the wild horses as Commissioners Whitney and Miller managed to get their resolution passed calling for the management of wild horses being the responsibility of the respective states not the federal government. All in all, a very good week.
