Today is the release of FFXIII on the pc platform, nearly 4 years after its release on xbox 360 and ps3 square enix brings it to pc under valves steam service. Upon starting the game (after a hefty 60 gig download) players were greeted with a very stripped down settings menu with no graphical settings what so ever leaving the game at 720p with an adaptive v sync locking the framerate at 30 or 60 fps depending on the scene. But what I love about the pc gaming community is its craftiness when it comes to bad ports such as this. One neogaf poster named Durante who happens to be the creator of the popular dark souls mod dsfix had the game running in 4k with AA within hours of release bringing pc players a dramatic improvment to both the games framerate and looks. Wile I wonder why developers decide not to provide players with an adequate settings menu for pc games I am happy that there are pc gamers out there taking the time to do what these devs choose not to.
