Today isnt the kind of holiday that Rivers Cuomo is singing about in Holiday. In fact, its not the kind of holiday that everyone in the US gets off of school/work for. But it is an important holiday, celebrating the birthday of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr, whose birthday is actually on January 15th. Interestingly enough, Im older than MLK Day - which became a federal holiday in 1983. Besides celebrating one of my countrys important historic figures, today also marks the last day of my own actual holiday. Its quite rare that I take time out to go somewhere without my family but I received this awesome opportunity to spend a long weekend in wine country with one of my best friends. It was too good to pass up. Weezer has never been one of my favorite bands but the Blue Album (1994) is one of my favorite albums. I still listen to the whole thing often and there isnt a song on it that I dont love. Then again, I still listen to a lot of stuff from the 90s.
