Today led us to another big curve in the road of this journey called cancer. Ill go back a few months to get you caught up. After radiation this spring on a new tumor, another small spot was found. At that time (April 2014) the spot was barely even significant. It has been monitored for change since then by an MRI in July and another in August. Due to scheduling conflicts, the dr has been unable to convey the test results to Cathy (mom). Friday (8/8/14) we got a phone call that there had been changes since the MRI in July and they were going to up her next chemo dose, and the dr would see her on 8/19 to discuss further. Today, as mom prepared for that chemo appointment she just didnt feel right. By the time she got to the infusion clinic at St Dominic she was displaying stroke-like symptoms. She was sent directly to the ER where it was determined she was NOT having a stroke. We found out later this evening the symptoms are being caused by the tumor and swelling around it. There has been significant change from April to July and even from July to August. It appears larger than the original tumor, similar placement, only this one is on the right side of the brain. This has now affected the strength of the left side of her body (aka her good side!). Mom is currently in the 3rd floor ICU at St Dominics. Her surgeon will be meeting with her radiologist to determine if surgery is the best course of action. We hope to know something tomorrow. As can be expected, we are surprised, scared, and worried. Mom is also, but she is glad to finally be getting some answers. She is doing well. Her sprits are up as much as they can be given the situation. Her faith endures. Our faith endures. Your prayers have been treasured by our family so far in this journey. I come to you once again asking for you to lift Cathy Robinson up by name to our Lord, Jesus. Thank you all in advance.
