Today marked the 7th anniversary of the deaths Sub-Officer Brian Murray and Fire-Fighter Mark O Shaughnessy. They were remembered by many fellow fire fighters from around the country. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. The Final Call It Was A glorious autumn morning, When i answered my final call, Kissed my wife and kids goodbye, As i ran down the hall. Got up to the station with not a worry or a care, To find we were understaffed, half the men not there, But that did not deter me from the duty of that day, So quickly into the engine, and we were on our way. Down through all the traffic, no privileges for us, Stopped at every red light, had to overtake every bus, Because the call was vetted, the fire had taken hold, And just because of money they always broke the code. But though i suffer all the imperfections,I am A fireman, my duty to save people and there property anyway i can, So i did what i was told to, entered trought the door, not thinking i would never see my loved ones anymore. It was hot and dark inside, the heat, the smoke, the flames, But i had to stop the fire from spreading down the street, And in the midst of all the choas, i looked up at the flames, and saw a dancing angel as she softly called my name. I decided to take a closer look before i hit the floor, At this thing of wonderment id never seen before, I reached up to the dancing angel, took her by the hand, And quickly with not a word she led me from this land, And she was a wounderous thing of beauty, as we slowly walked away, I asked her what her name was, She said Zoe Jade.(reference to Brians dead daughter) And thought i leave my family, there faces streaked with tears, I hope they can understand that i am forever near, though i may not walk beside them, I am never far away, The final call was answered that glorious autumn day
