Today marks 128 years since the death of President Ulysses S. Grant, who of course from March 1864 was the General-in-Chief of the United States armies and who made his headquarters at City Point (now Hopewell), Virginia during the Petersburg-Richmond Campaign. While many people associate Grant with liquor, a more accurate memory would be one of cigar smoking as it was throat cancer that ultimately took his life.
