Today marks 19 months since David Silva, my brother, was killed by 7 sheriff’s deputies and 2 CHP officers. It took 20 minutes for David to die. Very soon, I will illustrate the lies, cover-up and inconsistencies that came out of Sheriff Donny Youngblood’s “investigation” as well as the District Attorney’s “review” of a cover-up. We have only received a sheriff’s report and an autopsy report since David was killed. The District Attorney and the Justice Department have not given us anything in terms of any proof of an independent, through investigation occurring. Lawyers have been the only help in attaining facts outside of what the media has found. I only want a few things when this is all said and done: 1) The officers responsible for killing David to be held accountable and placed behind bars. 2) The removal of Sheriff Donny Youngblood and DA Lisa Green. 3) The Sheriff’s department and Coroner to be split into two departments instead of being one agency. 4) True “transparency” from all levels of law enforcement when tragedies such as David’s occur. 5) New local level civil rights representation when acts like this occur.
