Today marks the 25th anniversary of the wall between the peoples - TopicsExpress

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the wall between the peoples of Germany coming down. For many of us, this marked a new start into a free life, free from being told what direction the life has to go in, free from being kept away from our families on the other side, free from a dictatorship who imprisoned citizens for not agreeing with the regime like my grandparents, free from being spyed on by the neighbours who were on the pay roll of the Stasi agency. As much as I cherish this day as a personally affected, minor at that time, I am increasingly worried because the same rabble-rousers from then keep on poisoning thoughts of politcial illiteral people, stating easy answers for the state apologists, even going as far as advocating a socialistic society as if it hasnt gone all wrong ever. But I remain optimistic that the world will serve as an example of how much better it is with personal freedom, and I sincerely hope that we will see more walls coming down eventually - be it in the Middle East, or in Korea, or anywhere else: Freedom will find its way, and that I will be grateful for.
