Today marks the end of a journey. Nothing deep, by any stretch, - TopicsExpress

Today marks the end of a journey. Nothing deep, by any stretch, but something Ive been seeking since about 1993 or so. At that time I was working as a bellman at The Keltic Lodge, a resort in northern Nova Scotia. Pretty much all free time was spent reading, and it was then that I came across Clive Cussler. His main character, Dirk Pitt was, to me, the literary second coming of Indiana Jones. Pure entertainment, and great fun. Fiction is, they say, all in the details. One detail Dirk Pitt was never without, and Mr. Cussler went into great detail about, was his dive watch. A Doxa. I went from curious to smitten upon seeing one for the first time. Four days ago this limited production remake of the original Doxa left Switzerland. It stopped in Newark to enjoy some crappy weather, then arrived today. Traditionally the face is orange, but I liked the silver with subtler orange accents. Damn, it is heavy! Built to withstand and survive at 5,000 feet underwater. In fairness, it wont be tested while in my care. It might get splashed as I wash my hands, if Im honest. It is, however, a pivot. 20 years of dreaming gives way to 20 years of use and enjoyment. Sometimes its nice to have a dream come true.
