Today marks the end of an era. A sad day, not only for our grandfather Don, but for the wonderful staff, who made Newtown House the place it was, for our rural community and for our elderly nationwide. Its been a day of love and disgrace, celebrations and commiserations, determination and injustice, tears of laughter and tears of sorrow. The love and support my family have received throughout has been overwhelming and we can not thank you all enough for your kind words and gestures. I could not be prouder of my Mum, Michelle Robson, who has fought with everything she has and more, not only for grandad, but for every single person this decision has devastated, both now and in the future. Newtown House has been a wonderful home for so many and will be sorely missed in our community. We hope that this tragic injustice and the stand we have made against it will force open the eyes of those in power and make them recognise just how abused that power has been. For now, I leave you with the birthday boy Don Robson, our incredible grandfather and inspiration to many, with his parting words...
