Today marks the end of the first ten days of the year. To most religious communities, it marks the end of the ten days of reflecting and introspection. It is the beginning of a new religious year. I have been asking myself on the significance of taking time off to introspect, reflect and think. It is, in my view, a very important aspect of our lives which we should adopt as a way of life, continuously and not only once off or at disjointed and irregular periods. As Henry Ford said, “Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason why so few engage in it”. But alas, thinking is also the birth of all unimaginable things that we see in today’s world. If we took time to think and dream of the ideal lives we want and how we can possibly get there, we will have done half the job. Napoleon Hill wrote, “Whatever the mind of a man (women included) can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Thoughts are things! Strong, deeply rooted desire is the starting point of all achievement”. It is my submission to you today, that, while we all need COURAGE to TAKE ACTION, we need to THINK through what we want out of life. Let us DREAM without bounds and take time to conceive our ideas then take COURAGE to actualize them.
