Today marks two years since Jeannie Hayes passed away. For those who may be new to our friendship, she was more than a news anchor and radio host in Rockford. She was a free spirit who loved life and was always happy. Work was great when she was there and she especially loved when I brought my dog Theo in to work. Our news team became so close-knit after she died (because thats what she always wanted). We lost her almost without warning. She became sick the day before elections, was rushed to the hospital unconscious, and died of leukemia within a week...not knowing she even had cancer! Even after she died, shes helped me along the way. Through random rainbows, rays of sun, and animals, I know shes been around. Most recently this past June when I had to put my Theo-dog down, I knew Jeannie would be right there with a tennis ball for him. The thought helped me move forward. She was one of a kind and made such an impact on my life and I know Im not alone. Jeannie, stand by for camera two...roll tape.
