Today, my colleague and more importantly very close friend, Marty - TopicsExpress

Today, my colleague and more importantly very close friend, Marty Venticinque steps away from the world of broadcast meteorology after 15 years. He did it right. He was himself. Not a flashy man in real life, he did not pretend to be one on TV. He told you the weather like you were sitting at the kitchen taxable together, pouring over the daily newspaper and the mornings first cup of coffee. He is a kind man, always willing to spend time with his co-workers sharing lifes successes and troubles or learning each others political views. V is a wonderful analyzer of the skies above us. I put the three dimensional model of the atmosphere that he has in his head up against the highest scholars in the field. Marty was influential in getting me the job at KRDO 13 years ago when I was a fresh out of college hungry to prove myself meteorologist. Our styles differed wildly on the air, as do our personalities. We had so much fun together on the job; we pushed each other to be the best communicators we could be - in graphical presentation, the specific choosing of words and metaphors to describe the weather affecting us and the potential dangers that our atmosphere occasionally brings. Marty is a teacher. He always has been. I dont need to wish him well in the next chapter of his life - without a doubt hell be the best science teacher his students will ever have. Im a better person because of his friendship, a better worker because of his professionalism and a better father because of his example. Thank you for everything youve given me my friend and congratulations on a stellar career in broadcasting.
