Today my daughter reminded me how much she loves me unconditionally. I have been in this zone of busy-ness for weeks now due to the peak season. Almost 80% of the time when I am home, were spent infront of the computer, chasing my editing deadlines as well as managing the company. And many a times my daughter will come up to my side, asking me if I still have much work to be done. Her eyes full of hope that I would have time to play with her instead. Today, she did the same... But this time, instead of walking away after I gave her the usual mummy still has a lot of work to do, baby, she stayed by my side. Silently observing what I was doing. She leaned on me lovingly, whispered to me occassionaly asking if I need her help. Shed bring me a new bottle of water to drink. Shed help me do small errands while I wrap up my delivery parcels. While doing that, shed hum some tunes to show how contented she is just being by her busy mummys side. Tonight, as I tucked her to bed, she asked me once again, Mummy, do you still have a lot of work to do? And as my usual reply, I said yes, many more to do, baby. She then told me to finish up as soon as I can. She asked me if I had had my dinner. And then she hugged me and kissed me goodnight. All she wanted was for me to lay down beside her to sleep, but at the age of 5, she has learned to forgive and accept that her mummy has got to do what needs to be done, And with all that, she still loves me with all her heart and soul. i know... Cos I felt that love from her hugs and kisses tonight. I am a lucky woman... And I need to do better for my daughter. Good night. Xoxo Asther
