Today my favorite Marine Malachi Berry wakes up as a civilian for the first time in 5 years. I am proud of him. I think back over the years....the day he left....time served in Afghanistan.... The loss of his 25 brothers....the day he came home...the memorials he has been to and been apart off...the good times and bad. I will pray for him as he enters another new chapter in his life. I am honored to be a Mom of a Marine. The scars of war leave their mark...no one really understands except those that were there...we go on with our lives and we sweat the small stuff. I was reminded of that this morning, and was brought back into the reality that as my son gets out there are others who have not returned home....for them I weep, and give honor...Greater love has no one than this, that he who lays down his life for his friends. I am excited to see him, to spend time with him and watch him as he continues to grow into the man he will become. Semper Fi Malachi...
