Today official marks 4 years that our daughter, Jessica, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It changed our lives in so many ways! She was 6 years old at the time & it shook us to the core. We didnt fully understand what Type 1 was but quickly found ourselves with a new normal that we didnt want for our baby. I feel compelled to spread awareness constantly, including in this post. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease for which there is NO CURE. Injected insulin is our childs life support. She endures countless shots & finger sticks 24/7/365 with no break. It interrupts so many things that she wants to do & it commands attention. T1 can be diagnosed in anyone, at any age, anytime. It is a complex, all consuming, life threatening disease. We are beyond thankful to the Tyler Type One Diabetes Foundation who was our immediate support after diagnosis. I have NO idea how we would have handled this without their LOCAL SUPPORT & the amazing friends weve met along the way because of it! We also thank everyone who has helped to send Jessica to Camp Sweeney, we can not begin to explain how much camp helps now & will continue to help in her future. For the past almost 2 years, I have been the Executive Director of the Longview Type One Diabetes Foundation. It is a 501c3 non-profit that offers local support & services for all those affected by Type 1. We would be so grateful for you to consider making Longview Type One your charity of choice for a nonprofit tax deduction. I assure you that your donation ripples out & touches so many lives, including ours! Any amount is greatly appreciated - your support make Longview Type Ones support possible! longviewtypeone.org/donations
