Today on Whispers, join Tsetsei George-Okoro as we discuss Agnes story. Agnes and Tonye were high school lovers who started dating as soon as they got into college. In their final year, they had a blood covenant vowing to love each other and never to let anything separate them both. They went further to make sure they both were posted to the same state during their youth service. After their youth service, Tonye gained admission to further his studies in America They communicated during the first six months of Tonyes absence. Then in the seventh month, Tonye reduced communication He rarely called except when Agnes called. He began to give reasons such as, his studies were becoming more intense, he was shuttling between work and school, financial handicap etc. After some time, he stopped communicating. He changed all his contact details and disabled all his social network accounts. It was a traumatic experience for Agnes. For a long time, she found it difficult to get into another relationship. Two years after the incident, she got into a serious relationship with one of her co-workers and exactly five months into their relationship, they got engaged. They had their traditional marriage within a few weeks and then started preparing for their wedding. A month into their wedding, Tonye resurfaced. He came back to Nigeria and started pleading for forgiveness. He made her an offer to refund all the money spent so far if she should cancel the wedding plans. He reminded her that her marriage might not last because of the blood covenant they had in school. She is scared knowing that this might be true. Right now she is so confused particularly since the wedding invites have gone out. What should she do?
