Today or in the next 48 hours, Lebron will make a choice that looks very emotional when he returns to Cleveland. Truth is this, while it is somewhat emotional, it is a strategic move by Lebron and his team that does two things. First, no matter who you think is the best basketball player of all time... Lebron does something rather meaningful. He instantly becomes the basketball player with the most COMPELLING story of all-time. Grows up here, drafted by hometown team as “The Chosen One”… road gets tough… runs off to greener pastures before realizing one fact he hasnt been able to deny. No matter how successful he may become, nothing will compare to doing it here, where it all started, his life and career. Makes his triumphant and “heroic” return and eventually wins for his city. A city BTW, that is “cursed” and starved for a winner. They make movies and write books about this stuff. Hell it’s the premise of “The Lion King” for the most part. “A King” meant to rule his Kingdom. The premise of Batman. From hero… to coward… back to hero. Happy ending, white knight all the good stuff. Lebron wants to be a “hero” not the villain and now he can be for the rest of time. The second point is he comes back here and the pressure? It lessens significantly. He wins one ring in 8 years… Not 2, Not 3, Not 4, Not 5, Not 6, Not 7, but 1… He is a success. Cleveland doesnt need 8 titles in a row to stay interested. Just one, just one is all Cleveland craves. Not to mention, winning one in Cleveland has to feel like 10 anywhere else. He may not end up with more rings than MJ, Kobe, Russell or Tim Duncan but one in Cleveland sets his legacy in stone. He could decide to go back to Miami… and if he does… The Cavs will be fine. Young talent, coach who has won everywhere and things are look up. The sky is the limit, however, if LBJ buys back in. Let us just hope we hear something that four years ago would have been unimaginable… “I am taking my talents back to Cleveland…”
