Today, professional snowboarder Kevin Pearce is coming to Capitol Hill to share his story of a serious traumatic brain injury that ended his snowboarding career and almost ended his life. Kevin’s journey through recovery, the subject of an HBO original documentary The Crash Reel, shows the real and lasting impacts of TBIs. Young people are too often the victim of this type of injury, which can affect their abilities to learn and grow for the rest of their lives. We need to consider carefully what more can be done, on and off the Hill, to prevent injuries like Kevin’s from occurring. The viewing of “The Crash Reel”, and a discussion to follow with Kevin Pearce will be tonight at 6 pm in 2103 Rayburn HOB. Come out for a truly once in a lifetime experience!
