Today set out on a straight 3 hour journey of 170 miles approx on the interstate highway to MICANOPY from SARASOTA. The universe had something else in store, spent the whole day and night waiting for rides to, got only 3 short rides to cover only 30% of the journey till BRANDON( Florida), endured blistering sun and pouring rain later while reminding myself that this will also pass. Like they say every cloud has a silver lining, got rides from three wonderful souls. 1. Rob Henson : A corporate account executive who had hitched hiked 22000 miles across Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Egypt to return back to don the suit with noble intentions to set up charity for the welfare of impoverished communities in less developed countries, in self doubt to hit the road again. 2. Laureen : A wonderful lady with a well groomed dog named LIAM, was full of life, saw the positives of life even though both her sons are incarcerated. Hats off to her and her son who still had his humor intact and saw the positive of his jail term as a reformation time, when he called her from the jail.( Truly there is goodness in everyone) 3. Fernando : a Brazilan man who was fascinated by India, its movies and culture.He was ecstatic to receive 2 Indian coins as a gift from me. He and his friend gave me a bottle of water, cap and $20 during the ride.
