Today ..someone came to me. He was distraught. The girl he had been in love with for a long time had chosen someone else. I asked some questions and I listened to him tell me his whole story with full attention and presence. I said Come with me. and we walked to the river and sat down together in silence for a few minutes. .. Look at this river? I said. See how it continues to flow and never stops even for a moment? All your emotions, all your thoughts, all your experiences are like this river. They are all temporary. There is no feeling or experience that is permanent. You think you know so much. You think you know the way the future is supposed to go. You think you know whats going to happen.. You think you know who you are supposed to be with .. What do you really know? You dont know anything. The only thing you know is that what you are feeling is temporary. That the river of life is flowing and that it will flow on forever and ever. The only thing you know is to be in the flow. Be with the flow of the river. Be with the flow of your emotions,, your thoughts... the experiences. Be in the flow. . We got up and walked for a few minutes in silence together... Then he spoke. Thank you. I feel happy now. You helped me a lot. Great! I said. What made you feel happy? The river. he said.
