Today started out tense but ended up full of sunshine and happiness. I had a follow up appointment after the pace maker implant. In the procedure room, the Doctors and technicians were concerned with the bottom lead connection. It was not firm. The next morning the technician checked it again, still the same but was happy because it did not get worse. This was on my mind going into the follow up appointment. This morning when I took my shirt off to clean up (sponge baths only since last Tuesday the 25th), there was a bright red bruise-almost blood clot developed just below the wound (Add more stress). Remember I am trying to get the OK to travel/drive the 15th heading east. There has been no driving since the 25th either. The wound itself looked ugly with seepage-How much seepage is OK? Does it look like more? It was sealed off for sterilization in the procedure room. Today was the-tell-all day. I have been like a caged animal since Tuesday with all the restrictions. I completely understand why the big cats in zoos pace back and forth. Those of you who know me, know that just added to the stress. Anyway, while I am being chauffeured to the appointment in morning rush hour stop and go traffic on a 4 lane inter-state, I had some time to let this all get to me. I had this letter all planned out with boo-hoos etc. Checked in and sat only a few minutes before I was called in. I was seriously thinking of pulling a Forest Gump, start running and not quit for a year or two. It was all for naught. As the subject line states, I got a GREEN LIGHT with very few restrictions until I heal all the way. I will be leaving here Monday the 15th of July – first stop Luke Air Force Base near Phoenix with overnight stops in Kirtland AFB, New Mexico - Fort Carson, Colorado to see Brian Schlosser (spelling) and his wife Jenny with a promise of good BBQ on the menu. Brian is from Upstate, NY near my home town – Fort Riley, Kansas – Scott AFB, Illinois (not near Chicago) – Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio and then Rochester, NY on the 20th but not for long. We head to Detroit the 25th for the annual family reunion. I will be back in Rochester the 28th. From there, no dates set on purpose. As brother Martin Luther said, “I am free at last. God Almighty I am free at last. See some of you soon better yet, see you on down the road Jack. Tom/Walter
