Today started with a meeting of the transplant team outside of Annas door. There were about 20 people gathered-surgeons, pediatrician, nurses, nutritionist, pharmacy, etc. It was interesting to hear them talk about her case and ask questions of one another. Anna was able to Face Time with Andrew and Carlyn over at University of Washington Medical Center, and Luke at home in Spokane. She even got to Face Time with her bari sax section from band at Lewis & Clark High School, as well as some of her other friends during their lunch hour at school. This was something she had been looking forward to and planning with her bari section for weeks. It was mostly an uneventful day, which is great! This evening, her pain was up a little and red blood cell count was down-on the borderline of needing a transfusion. They did another ultrasound to make sure everything looked ok. I talked to the doctor a little after 9:00pm, and the ultrasound looked good! All of the arteries are flowing well. Theres a small pocket of fluid above the kidney, but not blood, and the surgeon isnt worried. Shes doing well and they arent going to do a transfusion. John and I have come home to our comfy little spot in Tyler and Janae Kopets home. We are so thankful for them and their hospitality. We feel like weve known them forever! One more thing before I close-Luke, do a great job on the trombone tomorrow at your first performance of The Trumpet of the Swan! Id say, Break a leg, but youre not a dancer! Maybe I should say, Bend a slide? I dont know, but have fun and play your best! (And dont really bend your slide.)
