Today starts the kickoff of summer concerts at the greenway. “This is a chance to kick back with your friends and family for a short time once a month and listen to music,” said Greenway Operations Director Buddy Faile. Anne Springs Close Greenway is starting of their summer concert series early this year, starting today. From then on the concerts will be every second Thursday in each month lasting till September. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic dinner and listen to some great performances. The concerts will take place in the pasture near the old 1947 Dairy Barn. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the music will begin at 6:00 p.m. The music performed will be a variety of different genres appealing to everyone. The concert today features the music of the Cold River. Other concerts in this series features, The Hinson Girls (July 11), Moonshine Racers (Aug. 8) and Caleb Davis (Sept. 12). Visitors can bring blankets and lawn chairs. Soda, beer, and wine will be available. As always, dogs on 6 foot leashes are invited to come. If you are a member of the Anne’s Close Greenway, you get in for free.
