Today the Alentejo Chant was considered by UNESCO a World Heritage. A patrmony well deserved since it is a unique chant in two voices, with Gregorian inspiration, and carries a history of suffering, like a moan for life by the exploited workers in the fields of the big farmers, the landholdings. While going across the large fields of corn and then working, they used to sing to scare the inner pain and contained anger they felt. Communism has got its strongest roots there during the fascism, This video is a piece of a documentary in English made about it by Tréfaut. This kind of chant is taught in schools to the children - a legacy that passes from generation to generation, as they say, carried in the DNA. Truly a beauty made of soulful poetry.
