Today the Berrien County Commissioners extended their bureaucratic reach by approving resolution P1407199. This resolution authorizes a financial accountant position the Financial Services Department. This is a position which pays very well. The problem as I see it is that the county could be saving money by sub-contracting their accounts to a private business within the county and actually help the local economy. In other words they are taking money from the private sector and transferring it to government rather than letting the private sector function as it was intended. They also listened to a proposal for yet another bureaucracy, the Berrien County Transportation Authority. It is their intention to consolidate all our transportation services into one large service to be controlled by guess who? The Commissioners. Once again, rather than give the private sector an opportunity to participate they are considering a plan which will take more power and wealth from the people and give it to government. How can the members on the board who call themselves republicans do so when they are following the Obama doctrine of wealth transference? I for one am ashamed of their performance and I wish they would stop calling themselves republicans.
