Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Dedication of St. John Lateran, the Popes cathedral in Rome. Here, St. Francis came to seek Pope Innocent IIIs approval of the way of life God had revealed to Francis. (The current church was built some centuries after Francis.) A sculpture across the street shows Francis and his brothers coming to Rome, and from the rear, one can re-construct the story of the dream of the Pope, in which Francis held up the falling church.
