Today the Fighting Fifth acknowledged the newest member of the 5th Marine Regiment and remembered the history of its brothers who earned the honor of the French Fourragere in 1918. By pinning the braided cord on the left shoulder of each new 5th Marines warrior, the chain of Command is symbolically accepting responsibility for that individual. By receiving the decoration, new members of the Regiment are making a vow to always preform at their peak, to live by the Fighting Five Principles, and to never let the Regiment down.
