Today the Holliston Public Schools lowers its flags to half staff in solemn remembrance of the victims of the 9-11 attacks 13 years ago today. We recognize the critical role that public education plays in keeping our nation safe and strong - from producing the soldiers and military leaders who stand guard to protect us, to the scientists, diplomats and engineers who serve to make our world a safer place. We also acknowledge our fellow educators working alongside others in the most dangerous parts of the world bringing knowledge and hope to the neediest on our planet. Without knowledge there will be no understanding -- without understanding there will be no peace.
