Today, the Preliminary Hearing in the matter of the People v. Trevor Bishop and Desi Horton concluded and the Court found sufficient evidence to hold both defendants held to answer to the charges filed against them. This matter is being prosecuted by Supervising Deputy District Attorney Brenda Broker. The next hearing in this matter will be the arraignment on the information which is scheduled for January 28th at 8:30 a.m. in Department 12 of the Visalia Courthouse. The charges in this case stem from the death of a 3 year old child, and are as follows: Defendant Trevor Bishop is charged with violating Penal Code sections 187 and 273ab(a) - 1st Degree Murder and Assault on a Child Causing Death. The maximum sentence is 25 years to life. Defendant Desi Horton is charged with violating Penal Code section 273A (a) - Child Abuse failure to protect and a special allegation for Willful Harm or Injury Resulting in Death. The maximum sentence is 10 years.
