Today the Prime Minister launched the first of our six themes for the General Election, that in the next Parliament Great Britain must live within its means. I agree that cutting our deficit is crucial for making Britain successful without leaving our children with a legacy of debt. We will achieve this by cracking down on tax avoidance, welfare cuts and reductions in department budgets. NOT A PENNY will be cut from the NHS budget and we will NOT RAISE TAXES to pay for the deficit reduction. I appreciate that this wont be easy for any of us, but I believe that our Long Term Economic Plan is fair and sensible, so that our children our not paying for our spending plus the interest.
