Today, the Sebastopol Gallery would like to introduce you to one of our newest member artists, Jeff Watts, painter. Jeff is a self-taught artist. Although he hails from Lynnfield, Massachusetts, he now lives in Forestville, California. Whether Jeff is painting an animal, a person, or a flower, Jeff considers all of his paintings to be ‘portraits’. When asked about his work, Jeff offers us this insight into his process, “I’m inspired by the techniques of the old masters, and I like to take advantage of the movement of the paint and the visible brush marks.” If you haven’t had a chance to meet Jeff in person or see the ‘pet portraitures’ that he creates, you will be amazed at the realism achieved with each painting. To this point, Jeff adds, “While I strive for a sense of realism in my paintings, I always want the viewer to know they are looking at a painting.” Come by the gallery.
