Today the band are playing at a WW1 Commemoration in Croydon. Named as The Final Roll Call, todays event is primarily to commemorate and honour The Forgotton and all those who gave their lives in service to their nation. Particularly those shell-shocked and mentally traumatised soldiers who died in Cane Hill Asylum in Coulsdon, Surrey. Nowadays it is recognised as post-traumatic stress disorder but back then it was misunderstood and many of the soldiers suffering from it were disowned by their families and placed in the Asylum where many remained for the remainder of their lives. So todays engagement is a very profound and significant event in remembrance of those soldiers. The band will be stepping off at 11:45 from Addington Park and marching to St Marys Church where the Brass Quintet will perform during the service. There will then be poppy laying where we will perform Last Post and Reveille.
