Today the cold finally kicked my ass. Big time! Im finding Im more of an island girl than an arctic girl, for sure. John and I started the day early, staking out last nights sighting address once again, on Great Hill Rd. We were there, spreading our tasty, unshowered scents along with the freshly roasted bacon Eve and John Zible cooked for us, around the neighborhood, talking to all the wonderful people wanting to help find Charlie. Unfortunately, we discovered no evidence that she had been there throughout the night, since the bacon we left out was still uneaten, and more of a meat popsicle by then. Blu, our other dog, accompanied us this time, thinking her scent would draw our pup out, but all Blu managed to do was to find the meatscicle and devour it in 1.2 seconds flat, and not really helping sniff anything else out. Tracks there were aplenty, but knowing which animal they belonged to is not our expertise, sadly. We saw gagillions of bunny tracks, followed by some kind of small dog or fox tracks, but who the hell knows anymore. I dont know if my mind is playing tricks on me, but I am SO hopeful that I want to believe they are Charlies. We went back to the power lines in Seth Low Pierrepont Reserve to check the food station we built there and found, to our dismay, that the Mc Ds cheeseburger we left there was uneaten with no new tracks or signs of Charlie Girl. Feeling discouraged, disappointed and exhausted, we took the station down, including all the dirty laundry we had hung in the trees. Obviously not what we had hoped would happen in either location. We transferred the food station to our new site, on Great Hill rd, where John and Eve Zible, and their kind neighbor Frank, who was the original sighter and caller, so generously allowed us to set up shop there again. This time with Charlies bed, a blanket my kids use when watching TV (which they were not at all happy I had borrowed), in addition to the bacon in a small Tupperware bowl. We were hungry and sleep deprived , so we headed home for some energy restoration. After breakfast/lunch and a cat nap, John headed back out ...AGAIN... with our friend Tim Fornero, our daughter Olivia and her friend, Emily, to go knock on literally EVERY SINGLE door on Great Hill Rd to inform those who havent seen or noticed the many hundreds of annoying signs everywhere, that our dog is still missing. They canvased peoples yards, sheds and anything a dog could hide under, only to come up empty. But, hope is still alive, since 2 out of 3 people knew Charlie was missing (the signs are working) and were very kind in letting them onto their properties. THANK YOU to all Great Hill Rd residents!!!!!!! Home again, and feeling ragged, Olivia, our daughter, reminded us in her delightful teenage tone, that we were supposed to put the bed and food in a more intimate spot, rather than by the driveway of the house. So trying to avoid going over there yet again, our friend, and momentary savior, Tom Lincoln and his son, went out to help move it all behind a shed there to hopefully give Charlie the feeling of safety and trust that would bring her back to the yard. Thank you Tom and Martha Lincoln, and of course Toms son, who Im sure had WAY better things to do with his time. At 5pm we checked in with Jamie Katz, K9 PI, who told us we needed to go back once again with Charlies crate and a crap load of the stinkiest meats one can imagine, for the overnight Food Station. Tunafish, rotisserie chicken, steak, hot dogs and some boring old dog food made their way with us in zip lock bags on the back seat. This time, hunger kicked my ass, and the smell of the nasty proteins in the car nearly made me hurl out the window on the way. Maybe that scent would have been THE thing to bring Charlie home? Well never know, lucky for me. Tomorrow is a new day, so I must remain positive. Naturally I would have preferred to find Charlie today, before tomorrows expected snowfall, but this is hand weve been dealt and we will play the cards as they come. Please keep looking for Charlie. We think she is still alive, possibly feeding on rabbits and deer poop, which weve learned is very high in protein. YUM! Wed love the help of anyone, willing and able, tomorrow who can go walking around looking under decks, tarps, inside sheds, and basically anywhere a small dog might find shelter from this frigid cold weather. Please do not call her name, as this might scare he away. Call our house with any new sightings or info. 203-438-3955 There is a $2,000 reward for any info that leads to Charlie coming home again, so please spread the word. Many, Many thanks to all the good semaritans and humanitarians who are helping us!. You have a speed pass to heaven now and we are eternally grateful! Bonnie
