Today the solar flux was 130 with moderate sun-spot activity. With the 11 year sun-spot cycle on the decline, the ham radio community was busy trying to get as many DX contacts as possible. Microphones and Morse Code keys were busy clicking all over the world, but here in our area one ham became a Silent Key. His name, Gene Sherron, and his Amateur Radio Call Sign was WA5MZK. Gene was my friend and brother in Christ. Much of what I know of Ham Radio I learned from my Elmer, Gene. I will miss his voice on the radio. He was a master of radio, a dedicated Christian, and a wonderful husband to his wife, Ruthie. The ham radio community is less, but heaven is richer. Friends please pray for Ruthie Sherron, Gene’s wife and the rest of the family. Wayne McMillian—AD4NY.
