Today the town of Macksville and the nation of Australia - TopicsExpress

Today the town of Macksville and the nation of Australia farewelled an endearing, humble, funloving young man who did his country proud. A promising young batsman with a record-breaking career, many dubbed him the ‘next Donald Bradman’. He was a young man who never forgot where he came from; whose heart was with his family; who had an enduring passion for life on the field and life on the farm. There are many images which will evoke Phillip Hughes today – the number 408, the coveted baggy green, the tribute of a bat against a simple Macksville farm fence. But the truest image of Phillip was that cheeky, warm smile of a great Australian cricketer with a love for life, laughter and family. On behalf of the people of Barton, I offer my sincere condolences to the Hughes family and the Australian cricketing community. Rest in Peace Phillip Joel Hughes, 30 November 1988 – 27 November 2014. 63 not out forever. #408
