Today the world parted ways with a great teacher. One of the kindest souls, the most incomparable brains, most beautiful personalities and the most mischievous, infectious smiles. I cannot admit how much I will truly miss you, my grandmother, for fear that the tears would dehydrate me completely. If I achieve even an iota of what you accomplished in your personal, family, spiritual and academic lives I will be grateful. At 95 you could still outplay any Scrabble Champion I know and still thread a needle with that one good eye. You could still out-sing the lot of us and still put us in our place with your lightning-quick wit. Still out tell a story with details that we could neither confirm nor deny because, well, you were there and weve only just heard stories. Ive known men younger than myself who wish they couldve known you in your youth and known people of all ages who could not refute your intellect, charm, grace or beauty. You come from a lineage of rebellious women, who have pushed the envelope and crossed the line and still remained dearly respected. Im sure you are debating with your siblings and are meeting your sweetheart, my grandfather, down by the Old Mill Stream. Rest In Peace, Lotus Flower.
