Today, thus far, has not been a good day. Many lessons learnt, chief amongst which is that the boot and back seat of a Nissan Altima are significantly smaller than the boot and back seat of a Toyota Camry. Fortunately, the nice people at Hertz were eventually able to find us another Camry, but that was only after wed spent a very hot, sweaty and frustrating hour trying to cram all the gear that was in the Camry weve been driving for the past few weeks (which was due an oil change, hence the need to swap it over) into an Altima. Another lesson learnt is that if a little voice inside your head says the food at this cafe is going to be disgusting and you should cut your losses and go find a Subway instead, you should not ignore that little voice, no matter how hungry and exhausted you are. There were other lessons as well, which I shall endeavour to remember and heed in future …. On a happier note, thanks to the lovely Rebekah Mills of The TownHouse Tea Shoppe, we are now safely installed in a nice comfy Hampton Inn, sweaty clothes changed out of and composure restored, with 20 minutes in which to catch our breath before we head out again for tonights gig -- our second visit to the aforementioned TownHouse Tea Shoppe (although last year we were upstairs in the Tea Party Castle, which normally serves as a birthday party venue for little girls harbouring princess fantasies -- great fun altogether, lots of pink and glitter). Huge thanks to Steve Grossman and all the crew at Steves Live Music in Sandy Springs, Georgia for having us back last night, to Jon Kiger at WRFG 89.3 FM for coming along to the gig and helping to promote it, and most of all to the absolutely wonderful Bella Issakova and her husband Matthew Campisi for putting us up for the night and for all their kindness and hospitality! So lovely to see them again. Tomorrow night Ill be making my second visit to House Concerts Chez Chase in Memphis, Tennessee, followed by second visits to Focal Point Concerts in Maplewood, Missouri (near St. Louis, MO) on Friday, and the Little Rock Folk Club in Little Rock, Arkansas on Saturday.
