Today was Daytona 500 qualifying to set the front row starters and the starting lineups for the Budweiser Duels on Thursday. Rookie Austin Dillon put his RCR #3 on the pole with a time of 45.914 at 196.091 mph. On the outside of him will be the Furniture Row #78 Chevy of Martin Truex Jr. Its to no ones surprise that Dillon is on the pole his car was fast in January testing and in both practices Saturday. Other notable drivers are Dale Jr who is the fastest Hendrick car in 7th and his teammate Jeff Gordon in 8th. defending champ Jimmie Johnson who had trouble in per-qualifying inspection ended up 14th. The fastest Toyota was Matt Kenseth in 17th and his teammates Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch were 21st, and 22nd. Kevin Harvick was 23rd. Rookie Kyle Larson ended up 24th. Danica Patrick timed 25th but dew to her engine change she will have to start in the back of her duel. 2011 Daytona 500 champ Trevor Bayne timed the Wood Brothers #21 in 26th. Kurt Busch is 28th. And Tony Stewart was 35th, and he too will drop to the back in his duel. So look for him and Danica to work their way to the front but no matter where they finish the will start in the back of the Daytona 500.
